Hueysville Mourns the Loss of Beloved Educator Tracy Lynn McCown, 59

The community of Hueysville, Kentucky, is mourning the passing of Tracy Lynn McCown, age 59, who died peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and educator, Tracy’s life was defined by compassion, service, and a deep love for family and community.

Born on July 31, 1966, in Kendallville, Indiana, Tracy was the daughter of Lorene George Bentley of Wellington, Kentucky, and the late Marvin Bentley. She grew up surrounded by strong family values and carried those lessons with her throughout her life. She later became the wife of Richard McCown, with whom she shared a loving marriage built on partnership, respect, and faith.

Tracy dedicated much of her life to education, serving as a school teacher for the Menifee County Board of Education before retiring. Her colleagues and students remember her as a patient, kind, and passionate educator who not only taught lessons from books but also instilled values of perseverance, kindness, and respect. Her influence stretched far beyond the classroom, leaving an enduring impact on countless young lives.

Along with her husband and mother, Tracy is survived by her beloved children: Aaron (Courtney) McCown of Ivel, Kentucky, and Ashley (Justin) McCown of Jeffersonville, Kentucky. She was also the proud grandmother of Lincoln, Connor, and Daniel, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Tracy is further survived by her brother Michael Bentley of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, sister Letha Bentley, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her father, Marvin Bentley, and brother, Joell Bentley, preceded her in death.

Family and friends describe Tracy as a woman of strength, warmth, and unwavering dedication. She had a gift for making others feel welcome, supported, and loved. Whether through her role as a teacher, a friend, or a family member, she gave of herself generously and will be remembered for her gentle spirit, radiant smile, and enduring faith.

Visitation for Tracy Lynn McCown will begin on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 6 p.m. at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky, and will continue all day on Friday, August 22, 2025. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 12 noon at the funeral home, with Doug Elam officiating.

As the community prepares to gather in her memory, Tracy’s family expresses heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. While her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, her legacy of kindness, service, and love will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
