Initially, police mistakenly identified Hogans as one of the shooters, but investigators later confirmed he was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire. The error left his family working to set the record straight about the man he truly was.

According to loved ones, Hogans spent Sunday evening at home with his wife, Keiona, and their 5-year-old son, Amir. Before heading out with friends, he made homemade pizzas and baked chocolate chip cookies—small moments his family says reflect the love and care he gave every day.

“He was gentle and caring,” Keiona Hogans told the IndyStar. “He was a man who always put his family first.”

Hogans worked as a warehouse operations specialist for Cardinal Health and was described as hardworking, dependable, and dedicated to providing for his family. Relatives say his life was cut short by senseless violence, leaving an irreplaceable void.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate the shooting. No further details about suspects have been released.
