
Authorities in Copiah County are investigating a tragic shooting that claimed the life of 20-year-old Decedric Stampley late Monday night.
According to the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Copiah County Medical Center around 11:10 p.m. after receiving reports that a man suffering from a gunshot wound had been brought to the hospital for emergency treatment. Despite efforts by medical personnel, Stampley succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival and was pronounced dead.
Law enforcement officials have since launched a full homicide investigation to uncover the events that led to the fatal shooting. So far, authorities have not released any details regarding potential suspects or a possible motive behind the incident.
