Miami, FL – Authorities say 25-year-old Jahniya Meda has been arrested after allegedly shooting a woman who showed up at her home demanding to see her boyfriend.
The incident happened on September 20, when the victim arrived at Meda’s residence and began banging on the door, calling for the man inside to come out. Police confirmed that the boyfriend was in Meda’s bedroom at the time.
According to investigators, as the woman walked away toward a side gate, Meda stepped outside with a firearm and fired two shots, reportedly yelling, “Get from my house!” Surveillance footage from a Ring doorbell camera allegedly captured the encounter.
Moments later, the boyfriend was seen fleeing the scene in a Mercedes-Benz. He was later located by police and admitted he had been inside during the shooting.
The victim was discovered nearby at a park with gunshot wounds to her back and buttocks. She was rushed to the hospital and is expected to survive.
Meda reportedly told investigators that the victim had previously threatened her. She is currently being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as the case remains under investigation.
