Authorities confirmed that Tyra was found deceased at her home on Tuesday evening in what is being investigated as a suspected suicide. Police reports indicate the investigation is ongoing.

The Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation expressed heartbreak at the loss, remembering Tyra as more than just a contestant. “She was a vibrant, intelligent, and inspiring young woman whose grace and spirit touched everyone she met,” the organisation said in a statement.

Tributes have poured in from across the island, with reigning Miss Universe Jamaica Dr. Gabrielle Henry and National Directors Mark McDermoth and Karl Williams extending condolences to Tyra’s family, friends, and loved ones.

Outside of pageantry, Tyra was a successful accountant, admired for her intelligence, professionalism, and kindness. Friends describe her as compassionate, thoughtful, and deeply committed to helping others.

She was also known for using her platform to advocate for mental health awareness and suicide prevention, speaking openly about the importance of breaking stigmas and encouraging others to seek help.

Her untimely passing has left a void not only in the Miss Universe Jamaica family but across the nation, where she was celebrated for her beauty, grace, and humanity.

As the investigation continues, Tyra is being remembered for the light she brought into people’s lives and her dedication to causes close to her heart. The Miss Universe Jamaica community has pledged to honour her legacy by continuing her advocacy for mental health support and awareness.
