Jefferson County Officer-Involved Shooting Leaves One Dead, Investigation Underway

The Jefferson County community is grappling with the aftermath of an officer-involved shooting that occurred late last night. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Jeremy Lawrence Jr. by Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley.

According to authorities, the incident began when officers attempted to stop a vehicle that had been speeding on 27th Street. The vehicle eventually stopped at the intersection of 27th and Maple, where three males exited the car. Shortly thereafter, an officer-involved shooting took place, resulting in the death of Lawrence, who was transported to JRMC but later pronounced dead.

The two other individuals who were with Lawrence have been detained by law enforcement and are currently under investigation.
