Joe Zapf Motorcycle Accident; Grant County, WI — A 21-year-old Madison man was airlifted to the hospital Saturday afternoon after suffering significant injuries in a motorcycle crash along State Highway 133.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at 2:06 p.m. just north of Dogtail Road. The rider, identified as Jett James Johnson, was traveling south on his 2023 Kawasaki EX400 when he lost control while navigating a curve. His motorcycle struck a guardrail, causing severe injuries despite the fact that he was wearing full protective gear.

Emergency crews from the Potosi Fire Department and Potosi EMS arrived quickly at the scene. Due to the seriousness of Johnson’s injuries, a UW-Med Flight helicopter was requested. A landing zone was secured nearby, and Johnson was flown to UW Hospital in Madison, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Authorities praised the rapid coordination between local emergency responders and the flight crew, noting that their swift actions ensured Johnson received the urgent medical attention he required.
The Sheriff’s Office highlighted that protective gear helped prevent the crash from being even more catastrophic, urging riders to remain vigilant during the busy motorcycle season.
