Jonathan Layton was fatally shot by police after making threats to harm his coworkers. The incident occurred in Layton, Utah, and resulted in Layton Police Lt. Travis Lyman confirming Layton’s death. A fatal officer-involved shooting occurred on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, in Lindale, Texas.
The incident began when a former employee, identified as Jonathan Layton, made threats to harm coworkers after being terminated from his job.
Law enforcement officers responded to the threat and located Layton at a residence on CR 4109.
When officers attempted to make contact with Layton, he pointed a handgun at them.
In response, an officer fired their weapon, incapacitating Layton.
Despite immediate medical attention, Layton was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
