The Jones County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Clifford Bickel, 83, of Anamosa, who died following a tragic crash on Highway 151 near South Circle Drive on Monday morning, September 29, 2025.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. when another vehicle failed to yield to a southbound pickup truck. The truck collided with Bickel’s car on the driver’s side. Sadly, emergency crews pronounced Bickel dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, identified as 59-year-old Lynn Strang of Hopkinton, was taken to Jones Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Authorities confirmed that both drivers had been wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
Family, friends, and neighbors remember Clifford Bickel as a kindhearted man whose presence left a lasting impact on those around him. His passing is not only a deep personal loss to loved ones but also a solemn reminder of the need for caution and attentiveness on the road.
