The Joplin, Missouri community is grieving the untimely death of Xander James Cupp, a 19-year-old whose life was tragically cut short following a car accident. Born on November 17, 2005, Xander’s bright spirit, humor, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Xander was the cherished son of Charles “Andy” and Amber (Beale) Cupp and a loving older brother to Mikynna and Leah. Friends and family remember him for his infectious laughter, kind heart, and unwavering faith, qualities that shaped every aspect of his life.

He began his education at Heartland Christian Academy in Bethel, Missouri, where he was active in basketball and developed a deep faith, accepting Christ at a young age and participating in his community through church service alongside his parents. After graduating from Webb City High School in 2024, Xander balanced work at Subway and Casey’s with honing his mechanical skills at All Around Automotive in Granby, where he worked with his grandfather, Mark.
Xander was a talented and creative soul, exploring artistic pursuits such as tattooing and design. His friends and fiancée, Halle Hannum, describe him as someone who loved fully, gave selflessly, and approached life with humor, sincerity, and passion.
Even in death, Xander continued to impact others through his generosity as an organ donor, a final gift that reflects his selfless nature. He is survived by his parents, sisters, fiancée, and a devoted extended family, and is preceded in death by his uncle and great-grandparents.
Though his life was tragically short, Xander’s faith, kindness, and love for family and friends ensure that his memory will live on. The Joplin community remembers him as a beacon of light whose laughter, compassion, and spirit will never be forgotten.
