Montgomery, Alabama — A juvenile has been arrested and charged in connection with a mass shooting that rocked downtown Montgomery over the weekend, killing two people and injuring 12 others, authorities confirmed Friday.
The Montgomery Police Department says the suspect—whose identity has not yet been publicly released—is facing one count of capital murder along with multiple counts of first- and second-degree assault.

The shooting unfolded late Saturday night in a crowded nightlife area near Commerce and Bibb Streets. Investigators believe it began when an individual was targeted, prompting multiple people in the crowd to fire back in a chaotic exchange.
The victims of the attack include 43-year-old Shalanda Williams and 17-year-old Jeremiah Morris, both of whom died.
Of the 12 wounded, several remain in critical condition, and many were teenagers.
Montgomery Police Chief James Graboys emphasized that more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
The department says it will continue examining surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and coordinating with state and federal agencies.
Mayor Steven Reed and Alabama Governor Kay Ivey have both condemned the violence and pledged additional support and resources for public safety in downtown Montgomery.
