KINGSTON, Ont. — With heavy hearts, the family of Terry McKenna has announced her passing on September 19, 2025. A devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Terry was known for her warmth, generosity, and steadfast kindness — qualities that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY - GOD BLESS YOU

Born in Toronto on March 10, 1965, Terry spent much of her youth in Peterborough and Orangeville before making Kingston her lifelong home. She began her career with Bell Canada, but when her children arrived, she embraced motherhood as her greatest calling, raising them with unwavering love, encouragement, and a bright sense of humor.

Terry is lovingly remembered by her children, Paige McKenna (Vince Duquette) and Ryan McKenna (Julia McKeown), who were the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by her mother, Dianne Gavey; her sister, Kim Marcus (Ralph Marcus); and her nieces, Samantha and Jessica Nicholls. She was predeceased by her father, Bud Gavey, whose passion for sports inspired her lifelong enthusiasm for athletics.

An adventurous traveler, Terry explored destinations from Africa and the Mediterranean to Scandinavia and the Caribbean, gathering stories and friendships along the way. Closer to home, she was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, celebrating their wins with excitement and meeting their losses with good-natured humor.

Terry also loved simple pleasures — tending to her garden, meeting new people, and nurturing friendships wherever she went. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she was always willing to lend a hand or offer support to those in need.

A celebration of Terry’s life will take place at James Reid Funeral Home in Kingston on October 1, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m., with words of remembrance at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Partners in Mission Food Bank, an organization close to Terry’s heart.

Her legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to shine through the many lives she touched.
