The La Salle Academy community in Providence, Rhode Island, is grieving the sudden and untimely passing of Mr. Roberto DiMascio, a dedicated World Languages teacher and the moderator of the Italian Club. For 14 years, Roberto was a fixture at La Salle, where he embraced the school’s mission of faith, service, and community. His classroom was a dynamic space filled with curiosity, laughter, and the exploration of cultural diversity. Known for his passion for the Italian language and culture, Roberto not only helped students achieve fluency but also ignited in them a deep appreciation for Italy’s art, history, and traditions.

Beyond teaching language, Roberto believed in educating the heart and soul. He was known for his engaging discussions and encouragement, always striving to make learning a personal and enriching experience. As the moderator of the Italian Club, Roberto inspired students to embrace their heritage through cultural events, language immersion trips, and community service projects. His efforts in promoting global citizenship and connection were integral to his students’ development, both academically and personally.

The community has rallied together to offer prayers and support to Roberto’s family, including his wife, Mercedes, and their two children, Dario and Sofia, who were central to his life.
