LAFAYETTE, La. — The Lafayette community is mourning the loss of Michael Leonard, 40, who tragically died in a motorcycle accident on Southpark Road.

According to officials, the crash occurred in the 200 block of Southpark Road as Michael was traveling eastbound. Investigators say he lost control of his motorcycle, which veered off the roadway and struck a tree before coming to rest. Despite the swift response of emergency crews, Michael succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
