LAVAL, QC – A violent daytime shooting outside a busy Starbucks in Laval has left one man dead and two others fighting for their lives in what authorities describe as a targeted attack linked to organized crime.
The Incident
The gunfire broke out around 11 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 440 and Highway 13. Witnesses reported hearing rapid bursts of automatic weapon fire, sending panicked customers and passersby scrambling for safety.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Charalambos Theologou, better known in underworld circles as “Bobby the Greek.” Emergency crews attempted to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of his associates sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital. Their conditions remain critical.
A Known Underworld Presence
According to police sources, Theologou was considered a significant figure in Quebec’s organized crime landscape. While not widely recognized by the general public, he had reputed connections to extortion and violent enforcement operations. His reputation as a feared crime boss earned him both power and enemies in the province’s criminal network.
At the time of the shooting, investigators believe Theologou and his men were near their armored Cadillac Escalade, an indication of the high-risk life he lived.
Police Response and Investigation
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has taken over the investigation, treating the attack as a high-priority organized crime case. A large security perimeter was established around the café as forensic teams combed the scene for evidence.
The shooters fled immediately after the ambush and remain at large. Police have not released suspect descriptions but are urging witnesses and anyone with cellphone footage to come forward.
Community Reaction
The brazen nature of the attack, carried out in a busy commercial zone in broad daylight, has rattled the community. Businesses in the area were briefly locked down while officers secured the scene.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and further updates will be released as new details surface.
