The Layton community is reeling after the heartbreaking loss of 2-year-old Ada Josephine, whose life was tragically cut short on Friday, September 5, 2025, in an accident at the Shiny Shell Car Wash on East Church Street.
A Devastating Accident
According to authorities, Ada was near the front passenger side of a truck when the driver, unaware of her presence, pulled forward. Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to Primary Children’s Hospital, the toddler could not be saved. The sudden tragedy has left family, friends, and neighbors in shock, struggling to comprehend the loss of such a young and cherished child.
A Name Full of Meaning
Ada’s name carried deep significance. Her first name was chosen because it was a favorite of her late father, while her middle name, Josephine, was a tribute to him, as it is the feminine form of his middle name, Joseph. Ada’s very identity was a living connection to the father she never had the chance to meet.
Her father tragically passed away during a family 4th of July pool gathering before Ada’s birth. At the time, her mother, Angela Hansen, was six months pregnant. From the beginning, Ada’s life was both a symbol of love and a continuation of the family’s resilience in the face of heartbreak.
A Cherished Daughter and Sister
Ada is survived by her mother and three siblings, who remember her as a joyful presence in their home—full of laughter, curiosity, and innocence. Angela Hansen, a nurse, Army reservist, and single mother, is now faced with the unimaginable pain of losing her youngest child while continuing to provide for her surviving children.
Community Support and Compassion
Neighbors and friends have rallied to support the Hansen family in their time of grief. A family friend, Georgia Allred, has organized a GoFundMe campaign to assist with expenses and to fulfill Angela’s wish of laying Ada to rest beside her father.
“All her life, Angela has given herself to service—whether in nursing or through her military service,” Allred said. “Now it’s our turn to give back to her.”
The fundraiser has drawn support from across the community, with people offering donations, prayers, and words of encouragement.
Remembering Ada’s Spirit
Though her time was brief, Ada’s impact was profound. Her smile, playful spirit, and the joy she brought to her family will never be forgotten. Her life, while short, was filled with love that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Legacy of Love
As the family prepares to say their goodbyes, they hold on to the hope that Ada is reunited with her father in eternal peace. Together, their memory endures as a testament to love, resilience, and family bonds that even tragedy cannot break.
Ada Josephine’s story is one of love, loss, and remembrance. At just two years old, she left behind a legacy that will continue to shine through her mother, siblings, and all who were touched by her life.
