The Leon County community is reeling after the tragic death of Lakeboy Vito, a beloved son, friend, and neighbor who was fatally shot earlier this week. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has confirmed that it is investigating the case as a homicide, following the discovery of Vito’s body inside a vehicle on Tuesday evening in the 5600 block of Aenon Church Trail.
Deputies responded to the scene shortly before 8 p.m., after a passerby noticed a vehicle parked along the roadside and called authorities. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male inside the car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, Vito was pronounced dead at the scene.

The normally quiet neighborhood has been left shaken by the violence. “We’ve never seen anything like this here,” said one resident. “Lakeboy was loved by everyone — always polite, always smiling. This just doesn’t make sense.”
According to investigators, preliminary findings suggest the shooting was not a random act. “We believe the victim and suspect may have known each other,” an LCSO spokesperson said during a press update. Detectives have been canvassing nearby homes, gathering surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses as they work to uncover a motive.
