Linn County Authorities Seek Person of Interest in Center Point Stabbing

Center Point, IA — The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a person of interest following a stabbing that occurred early Wednesday morning, August 28, 2025, in Center Point.

Deputies responded to a disturbance at 1320 Franklin Street at approximately 12:52 a.m. Upon arrival, they found 36-year-old Trent Pray of Center Point suffering from serious but non-life-threatening knife injuries.

Authorities have identified 30-year-old Riley Young, also of Center Point, as a person of interest. Witnesses reported that Young left the scene before deputies arrived, and his current whereabouts are unknown. Investigators believe the attack was targeted, and officials have emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the general public.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone who encounters Young not to approach him but to immediately contact law enforcement.

Anyone with information on Young’s location is asked to call the Linn County Sheriff’s Office at (319) 398-3911. Anonymous tips may also be submitted through Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME (1-800-272-7463).

Authorities continue to investigate the incident as they work to locate the individual responsible.
