The Lufkin community is grieving the tragic death of Morgan Wright, 40, of Pollok, Texas, who lost her life in a devastating accident on September 29, 2025.

Authorities said Wright’s Ford Explorer was struck by a stolen Chevy truck driven by a 16-year-old who was fleeing police through downtown Lufkin. The violent collision claimed Wright’s life at the scene, sending shockwaves through her family, colleagues, and the wider community.
Wright was a dedicated Speech Pathologist with Lufkin ISD, where she was admired for her compassion and devotion to students. Colleagues remember her as a kind, uplifting presence who made a lasting impact across the district.
In a heartfelt statement, Lufkin ISD paid tribute to her service:
“Mrs. Wright was a true treasure to our district, touching countless lives with care and dedication. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and she will be profoundly missed. We extend our sympathies to her husband, Friday Wright, their daughters, both families, the Wells ISD community, and Morgan’s colleagues during this difficult time.”
The district also released a Spanish-language message to honor Wright’s legacy, underscoring her importance to both English- and Spanish-speaking families.
