Tragedy struck at one of Florida’s newest attractions when a man in his 30s died after riding a roller coaster at Epic Universe, authorities confirmed.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Orlando, the man was discovered unresponsive after exiting the ride on Wednesday. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Officials have not released the man’s name or further details about the circumstances of the incident as of early Thursday.
Epic Universe, part of Universal Orlando Resort, opened in May and is the first major theme park to debut in Florida since Universal’s Islands of Adventure in 1999. The sprawling destination features five themed areas and a 500-room on-site hotel, joining Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay to bring the resort’s total park count to four.
Authorities said an investigation is underway into the man’s death, and no additional information has been made public.
