The Memphis Police Department (MPD) is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Thursday morning in North Memphis, leaving one man dead and prompting a citywide appeal for information.
Officers were dispatched to Eldridge Avenue around 6:27 a.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released his identity, pending notification of next of kin.

According to MPD, the suspect fled immediately after the shooting. Witnesses described him as wearing a red hoodie and tan pants. Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to come forward.
Detectives are actively canvassing the neighborhood, reviewing surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
Residents expressed shock and concern, noting that Eldridge Avenue is usually quiet during the early morning hours. One local said the gunfire startled families and created an atmosphere of fear in the community.
