Witness to Tragedy: A Heartbreaking Account
A neighbor, A’Livia Meredith, was one of the first to witness the devastating scene. She recounted hearing “all the commotion” before rushing outside to find Shaniyah lying in the parking lot, bleeding and fighting for her life. Her boyfriend was by her side, desperately trying to help, holding her wound and whispering words of comfort.
Meredith, struggling with the memory, shared, “I was just telling her, ‘Stay with us.’ She was going in and out, like here and not here. I’ve never seen that.” Despite the frantic efforts of loved ones and first responders, Shaniyah passed away at John Muir Walnut Creek hospital, surrounded by those who fought tirelessly to save her.
Unthinkable Tragedy: A Family Torn Apart
The unthinkable news came when it was revealed that Shaniyah’s death was allegedly at the hands of her own mother, 36-year-old Brittney Evanna Kazee, who was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with homicide. One neighbor remarked, “It’s hard to even really think about… Then you find out a mom can do that.” Another shared, “It’s very sad. It’s real sad.” The circumstances surrounding Shaniyah’s death have left many struggling to comprehend the tragedy.
