Miami-Dade County officials have identified 18-year-old Angelina Plasencia as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash that capped a tumultuous series of incidents late Sunday night.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies were first called around 11:30 p.m. to Northwest 72nd Avenue and Northwest 58th Street for a missing person report. When investigators returned Monday morning, they found Plasencia’s body in a nearby canal.
Detectives say the teen had been among several passengers in a car that fled the scene of an earlier crash at Northwest 74th Avenue and Northwest 58th Street. That vehicle was later involved in another collision on the northbound ramp of State Road 826, where its occupants abandoned it and escaped on foot.
The group reportedly called a friend to pick them up on a motorcycle. Minutes later, the bike crashed near Northwest 72nd Avenue and Northwest 58th Street, throwing all four riders. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed a man and two women to the hospital in critical condition.
Plasencia, however, was later located in the canal and pronounced dead.
Authorities continue to investigate the chain of events leading to the tragedy, urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to piece together how the night’s chaos ended in the loss of a young life.
