The crash took place at approximately 8:43 p.m. on the Portland side of the bridge, prompting a swift response from the Portland Police Department.
Upon arrival, first responders found two vehicles severely damaged in the collision—a red Subaru and a black Ford Escape. The driver of the Subaru, 70-year-old Jozef Baran from Middletown, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Ford Escape, 31-year-old Angela Grammatico of Portland, was transported to Hartford Hospital with unspecified injuries. Her current condition has not been publicly disclosed, and authorities have not released further details regarding the extent of her injuries.
