Midvale Couple Identified in Tragic Murder-Suicide
Authorities in Midvale, Utah, have identified the two individuals found dead in a home earlier this week as Eilleen Lyon, 65, and her husband, Terry Lyon, 63.

The Unified Police Department (UPD) confirmed the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide after officers discovered the couple inside their residence near 7500 South Jefferson Street on September 23.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY - GOD BLESS YOU

Police were first alerted when one of the victims failed to appear for work, prompting a welfare check. Upon entering the home, officers found the couple deceased. Investigators believe Eilleen died from a gunshot wound and Terry from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities reported that the house showed no signs of forced entry and emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Officials also noted that there was no known history of domestic violence involving the couple.

The investigation is being handled by UPD’s Violent Crimes and Forensics Units in coordination with the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner. Detectives are interviewing relatives, neighbors, and co-workers to piece together the events that led to the tragedy.

In a statement, UPD called the situation “heartbreaking,” extending condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers of the victims.

The Midvale community remains in shock at the sudden loss, with neighbors remembering the Lyons as quiet and devoted to one another.
