A peaceful Milton neighborhood was rocked by a tragic shooting on Monday afternoon that left one man dead and triggered an urgent police response. The Milton Police Department confirmed that 31-year-old local resident Tervon Jackson was fatally shot near Lucille Johnson Park on November 24, 2025, at around 4:31 p.m. Officers arrived to find Jackson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts from first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene, sending shockwaves through the community.
Witnesses quickly provided key details that helped authorities piece together the initial stages of the investigation. Reports indicated that three males were seen fleeing the scene on foot shortly after the gunfire rang out, with two of them partially masked. Officers canvassed the neighborhood, collecting surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses, which helped investigators track the suspects’ movements through the area.

A K-9 unit was deployed to assist in the search, following a trail that led officers into a swampy, wooded area near Pine Street. There, police located three males who matched the descriptions given by witnesses. The suspects had attempted to hide in the water to avoid detection. Officers recovered additional pieces of clothing as well as two semi-automatic handguns, which were consistent with witness reports.
The three suspects were taken into custody and brought to the Milton Police Department for questioning. After further investigation, detectives arrested 21-year-old Jayden Jamarco Wright, charging him with Murder – Dangerous Depraved/Homicide (F.S.S. 782.04.2), a felony offense. Wright has been booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail without bond and is awaiting his initial court appearance. Jackson’s autopsy has already been completed, and the firearms have been sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for forensic analysis.
Authorities have praised the swift response of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, FDLE Crime Scene Technicians, and the Milton Investigations Unit for their collaboration in solving the case.
