Missouri Highway Patrol Investigates Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-49 in Harrisonville

HARRISONVILLE, Mo. — A woman was killed Thursday evening in a three-vehicle crash that shut down a busy stretch of Interstate 49 for several hours, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the victim, a 56-year-old Harrisonville resident, was driving an SUV when the collision happened near the Commercial Street exit. Emergency crews responded quickly, but she died from her injuries at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released as officials work to notify her family.

All northbound lanes of I-49 were closed while investigators documented the scene and cleared debris from the roadway. Traffic was allowed to resume shortly before 9 p.m.
