Authorities in Bozeman are investigating a tragic incident after a man fatally shot himself outside the Walmart store on North 7th Avenue Sunday afternoon.

According to the Bozeman Police Department (BPD), officers responded to a call at approximately 2:18 p.m. on August 10. Law enforcement said an adult male shot himself in the head near the store’s entrance. Emergency medical services arrived quickly, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police partially evacuated the store during the response but later confirmed there is no active threat to the public. The incident is being described as a suicide.
The man’s identity has not been released pending family notification. Walmart officials confirmed the store will remain open during the ongoing investigation.
