Cookeville, TN — A tragic crash involving a Putnam County ambulance claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Tuesday morning, August 26, 2025, authorities report.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Willow Avenue during a non-emergency ambulance transport. The ambulance, which had no siren or lights activated, reportedly turned onto the roadway and failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the rear side of the ambulance, resulting in the rider’s death.
The ambulance crew and the patient onboard sustained minor injuries and were transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. The community has extended its thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family and all affected by this tragic event.
