According to a crash report, FOX13 investigative reporter Kayla Solomon was driving her personal vehicle on Central Avenue near Lindsay Street when she attempted a U-turn and struck a motorcycle traveling in the same direction.

The motorcyclist, identified as 36-year-old William Scanlan, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries. Officers noted that Solomon was off duty at the time of the crash.

On Tuesday morning, Solomon voluntarily surrendered at Jail East, where she was booked on several misdemeanor counts, including failure to yield the right of way resulting in death, failure to exercise due care, and making a U-turn on a curve or hill.

Central Avenue was temporarily closed Saturday night while investigators reconstructed the scene.

The deadly crash has left Scanlan’s family grieving an unexpected loss, while Solomon now faces legal consequences as the investigation continues.
