The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed several arrests tied to the heartbreaking death of a 9-year-old child in Pageland, bringing new developments after weeks of tireless investigation. Authorities announced that both adults and juveniles are now facing a variety of charges related to the tragedy.

Sheriff Cambo Streater called the incident a painful reminder of how quickly violence can shatter lives. “Our entire community is mourning the loss of this child,” he said. “We must stand together—parents, educators, faith leaders, and law enforcement—to help guide young people and stop these senseless acts before they happen.”
The investigation, which remains active, was carried out with support from the McBee and Pageland Police Departments, EMS and Fire services, the SLED Crime Scene and Special Victims Units, as well as the 4th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Officials emphasized that this case is not linked to other recent shootings in the county.
Those charged in connection with the case include:
Raven Nicole Deese, 35 – Facing multiple counts including homicide by child abuse, unlawful neglect of a child, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
James Franklin Langley, 37 – Charged with homicide by child abuse and related offenses.
Several juveniles (ages 13–17) – Accused of murder, assault and battery by mob resulting in death, weapons violations, and firing into an occupied vehicle.
James Allen Jordan, 28 – Facing charges of murder, assault, weapons offenses, and other violent crimes.
The sheriff’s office noted that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
