Detective Inspector Torie Harrison, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team, expressed the family’s heartbreak, stating, “John’s family is understandably devastated. He was a cheerful, much-loved man whose death has left a deep void in their lives. Our team is working tirelessly to ensure justice is served for John and his family.”

Investigators are calling on the public for any information that might help the investigation, particularly in the days leading up to Boyle’s death, between October 26 and November 8. Authorities are seeking CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage, or any details of suspicious activity around Leatherland Court.

Boyle’s family has issued a poignant tribute, remembering him as “a gentle and generous soul whose love and kindness touched everyone who knew him.” Describing Boyle as a devoted father and grandfather, they said, “Our family is devastated by the tragic loss of our beloved father. He was a father of six and a proud grandfather of 15 — a man who lived his life for his family. We are shattered that his life was taken from us in such a senseless act of violence. No words can capture our pain, but we want him to be remembered not for how he died, but for how he lived — with love, humility, and dedication to his family.”

As the investigation continues, Boyle’s family requests privacy during this difficult time while they await justice.
