NorKam Secondary School in Kamloops was placed under lockdown Thursday afternoon after authorities responded to an active threat involving a potential weapon on school grounds. Reports from witnesses described seeing more than two dozen police vehicles arrive at the school on Tranquille Road, shortly after the lockdown alarm sounded. Officers, some armed with long guns, entered the building while students and staff remained confined to classrooms.
The Kamloops RCMP confirmed that they are investigating an active shooter threat, though no injuries have been reported so far. Police have not disclosed whether a suspect has been apprehended or if students are in immediate danger.
