MIDDLESEX, N.C. – For more than two decades, a North Carolina family has endured the anguish of not knowing what happened to their son, Travis Lamont Lynch, who vanished on Christmas Eve 2003 and was never seen again.
The Disappearance

Lynch was 22 years old when he disappeared from the Middlesex and Wilson area on December 24, 2003. According to the family and investigators, he spent the evening at a friend’s house before leaving around 1:00 a.m. on Christmas Day to drive back to Wilson in his white 1992 Pontiac Grand Am.
He promised his girlfriend he would call when he arrived home, but that call never came. Neither Lynch nor his vehicle (North Carolina license plate RZS-4814) have been located since that night.
Description and Investigation
At the time of his disappearance, Travis Lynch was described as a Black male, 5’4″ tall, weighing 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He had a tattoo of the letter “T” on his right forearm and a birthmark at the left corner of his mouth.
Authorities launched an immediate investigation, but early leads were scarce. Investigators looked into suspicious events, including two fires at a mobile home connected to his girlfriend’s family, but no definitive link to Lynch’s disappearance was ever established.
A Family’s Enduring Search
For over 21 years, Lynch’s family has never given up hope of finding answers. They describe him as a young man with close family bonds who would never leave without telling someone.
“Cold cases can be solved even decades later,” a family advocate stated, urging anyone with even a small piece of information to come forward.
