The North Hills School District is reeling after the tragic death of 2025 graduate Addie Maiette, who lost her life in a crash early Wednesday morning near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Cornell Avenue, on the Ross Township–West View line.

Authorities said the accident happened shortly after 6 a.m. when three vehicles were stopped in the left-hand lane of Highland Avenue. Investigators believe a third vehicle attempted to pass the cars by entering the oncoming traffic lane at the same time the lead vehicle tried to turn left onto Cornell Avenue. The two vehicles collided with devastating impact.
Due to the severity of the wreckage, police have not yet determined which driver attempted the pass and which attempted the turn. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are urging anyone with information to contact the County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
Remembering Addie Maiette
Addie, who graduated from North Hills High School in May 2025, was a gifted student-athlete and a beloved member of the North Hills Girls Soccer Team. She also studied carpentry at the A.W. Beattie Career Center, where she was admired for her determination and work ethic.
“The North Hills School District is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of 2025 North Hills High School graduate Addie Maiette,” the district said in a statement. “We extend our sincere condolences to Addie’s family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched.”
Community Support
In response to the tragedy, counseling services have been made available at the high school for students, staff, and families. The district emphasized that support will remain accessible for as long as needed.
“This heartbreaking loss reminds us how quickly life can change,” the district statement continued. “May we find strength in one another and comfort in the love of family, friends, and our community.”
