The Nouvel Catholic Central High School and Junior High community is grieving the loss of Tim Marciniak, the beloved principal who passed away early Friday morning, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer and infection.
“It is with deep sadness we share the passing of our beloved high school and junior high principal, Tim Marciniak,” said Dan Decuf, head of school. Marciniak’s leadership, dedication, and kindness left a profound impact on students, staff, and the broader school community. In honor of his passing, classes were canceled on Friday, October 10, and mental health practitioners were made available to support students, staff, and families.

Marciniak’s career spanned more than three decades in education, beginning in the classroom as a teacher before advancing into leadership roles. He served as principal at Bay City Central High School for 17 years and at MacGregor Elementary School, before joining Nouvel Catholic Central in 2023. Throughout his career, he earned respect for his unwavering commitment to education, mentorship, and student growth.
A graduate of Bay City All Saints, Marciniak earned a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and a master’s of education from Saginaw Valley State University. He was also an active member of professional organizations including the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association.
Marciniak is survived by his wife and two children. The community remembers him not only for his professional excellence but also for his resilience, having overcome a previous battle with multiple myeloma in 2009. His legacy of leadership, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him.
