The quiet village of Nyack, New York, is reeling from a devastating tragedy following the deaths of Anita Lam Wright, 55, and Jeffrey Wright, 52, discovered inside their home on North Midland Avenue on Saturday, November 1.
According to the Orangetown Police Department, officers were dispatched to 290 North Midland Avenue around 4:34 p.m. after a family member raised concerns about the couple’s wellbeing in connection with a possible domestic situation. When repeated calls to the homeowners went unanswered, the Rockland County REACT (SWAT) Team was called in to safely enter the residence.
Inside, authorities made the heartbreaking discovery — both Anita and Jeffrey Wright had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. A shotgun, believed to be the weapon involved, was recovered at the scene.
Captain Michael Shannon confirmed that the Orangetown Police Detective Bureau, alongside multiple county and local agencies — including the Rockland County Sheriff’s BCI Unit, Clarkstown Police, and the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office — is conducting a thorough investigation. At this stage, detectives are treating the case as a domestic-related incident, though they noted that no prior domestic complaints or police calls were ever linked to the address.
