OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. — Authorities are investigating a tragic incident in Waterford Township after two elderly residents were found dead inside their home Wednesday evening, in what officials believe may be a murder-suicide.
Police responded to a welfare check request near Crescent Road shortly before 6 p.m. on October 15, 2025. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 97-year-old woman and a 96-year-old man deceased in their living room. Both appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds, and a handgun was located nearby, prompting investigators to suspect the deaths were self-inflicted and not linked to any third party.

The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office is set to perform autopsies to confirm the exact cause and manner of death. Authorities have withheld the couple’s names pending family notification.
Neighbors described the couple as quiet, devoted, and well-liked members of the community. “They were always together,” said one neighbor. “It’s heartbreaking that something like this happened to them.”
