A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded early Saturday in Ogden, Utah, as a 15-year-old girl lost her life in a neighborhood shooting that has shaken the local community.
According to the Ogden City Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 3 a.m. near the 3500 block of Jackson Avenue. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a teenage girl suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. The victim, identified by loved ones as Chanelle, was pronounced dead at the scene despite immediate emergency response efforts.

Following an intensive investigation, detectives identified a suspect — another teenager from Syracuse — who was later taken into custody. The juvenile is reportedly facing a charge of murder, though police have not released further details due to the suspect’s age.
Family and friends have since taken to social media and a GoFundMe campaign to mourn Chanelle’s loss and raise funds for her funeral expenses. Described as “beautiful and feisty, with a gracious smile and a contagious laugh,” Chanelle was remembered as a bright presence whose energy touched everyone around her.
“Our hearts are shattered as we share the devastating loss of Chanelle,” her loved ones wrote on the fundraising page. “Her life was taken far too soon, and it still doesn’t feel real. Words can’t capture the pain we’re feeling.”
A close family friend assisting with the arrangements expressed deep sorrow over her death, saying, “A life cut short, far too early. Lord have mercy and hear our prayer. Chanelle was an incredible young woman and will be dearly missed.”
