Born and raised in Illinois, Olaf graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago with a Bachelor of Science in Information Decision Science. His education laid the groundwork for a successful career in technology, where he built a reputation as a skilled and dedicated software quality assurance and engineering specialist.
Olaf began his professional journey as a Data Analyst at Runzheimer in Waterford, Wisconsin, later transitioning into quality assurance roles that showcased his precision and problem-solving skills. He went on to work with Bader Rutter and Laughlin Constable before joining Northwestern Mutual in 2020 as a Test Engineer, where he made a lasting impact over five years. Colleagues admired his expertise with modern tools — including Node.js, WebdriverIO, JavaScript, SQL, and Playwright — as well as his thoughtful mentorship and collaborative spirit.
While Olaf’s professional life was full of achievements, his greatest pride and joy came from his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lauren Stieber, and their two young children, who were the center of his world. To them, Olaf was a loving husband and devoted father whose patience, warmth, and encouragement filled their home with love.
Olaf is also deeply missed by his parents, Grazyna and Peter Stieber, his sister — who shared four decades of cherished memories with him — and his brother, Lucas, all of whom remember him as a man whose laughter, strength, and gentle heart brought light into every room.
Those who knew Olaf describe him as steady, kind, and generous — someone whose presence offered both comfort and inspiration. Though his life ended far too soon, the legacy of his love, intelligence, and unwavering dedication will live on in the lives he touched.
