A quiet senior housing community in Old Bridge was shaken Tuesday after two residents were found dead in what authorities believe to be a murder-suicide.
According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, 63-year-old Jamie A. Nowakowska and 54-year-old Nancy Misura were discovered with fatal stab wounds inside a unit at the Old Bridge Rotary Senior Housing complex on Ticetown Road.

Police were called to the building around 11:40 a.m. for a welfare check. Inside the residence, officers found both victims unresponsive. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe Nowakowska fatally stabbed Misura before taking his own life. While the motive remains unclear, officials confirmed that evidence strongly points to a murder-suicide scenario. Autopsies are pending to determine the exact causes of death.
Authorities noted that shortly before officers arrived, Nowakowska placed a 911 call reporting someone knocking at the door — later identified as staff conducting routine checks. The unusual call has become part of the ongoing investigation into the sequence of events leading up to the deaths.
The tragedy has unsettled residents of the typically peaceful community. “We all look out for one another, so something like this is just heartbreaking,” one neighbor said.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as investigators continue to piece together what happened.
