One Dead, Two Injured in East Los Angeles Alley Shooting

East Los Angeles, CA — A fatal shooting early Saturday left one homeless man dead and two others injured in an alley in unincorporated East Los Angeles, authorities reported.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded around 2:25 a.m. to the 5100 block of Whittier Boulevard, near Woods Avenue, where deputies found three victims, according to LASD Lt. Steven De Jong.

A 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men suffered gunshot wounds to their legs and were taken to a nearby hospital with stable vital signs.

Investigators said all three victims were transients living in tents in the alley. The suspect reportedly fired from Woods Avenue before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.
