Authorities have safely recovered a one-year-old girl who was the subject of a province-wide Amber Alert on Tuesday afternoon, but the search continues for 38-year-old Anthony Deschepper, wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman in Brampton.
The Amber Alert was issued shortly before 5 p.m. after the infant went missing in Brampton. Peel Regional Police later confirmed that the child had been dropped off safely with family members and was unharmed.

The alert stemmed from a deadly morning shooting at a parking lot near Airport Road and Queen Street East in Brampton. Responding officers discovered a woman suffering from gunshot wounds, and despite efforts by emergency personnel, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have identified Anthony Deschepper as the primary suspect, and police believe the incident is intimate partner-related.
Authorities describe Deschepper as:
38 years old
5’9” tall, 175 lbs, clean-shaven with brown hair
Last seen wearing a blue hoodie, blue jeans, and carrying a black crossbody bag
Driving a 2024 black Nissan Kicks with Quebec licence plate FRV 4520
Armed and dangerous
Deschepper is believed to have fled the Brampton area and may now be in Fort Erie, near Prospect Point and Ridgeway Road. The Niagara Regional Police Service has issued a shelter-in-place advisory for residents in Fort Erie and Crystal Beach, urging the public to stay indoors, lock windows and doors, and avoid answering doors for strangers.
Police have emphasized:
“If you see Anthony Deschepper or the suspect vehicle, do not approach. Call 911 immediately.”
The manhunt involves a heavy police presence, including tactical units, canine teams, and air support, actively searching for the suspect. Authorities continue to ask anyone with information or surveillance footage to contact Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
