OPELIKA, Ala. — Authorities have identified the victim in a tragic stabbing that has left the Opelika community reeling.
The Lee County Coroner’s Office confirmed the deceased as Breanna Colquitt, 34, a longtime resident whose life was cut short in the early hours of Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Discovery on Samford Court
According to Opelika police, officers responded around dawn to reports of a disturbance in the 1000 block of Samford Court. When they arrived, they discovered Colquitt suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, she was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton said Colquitt’s body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy, which is expected to clarify the extent of her injuries and aid investigators in determining how the events unfolded.
Investigation Underway
Police have classified the stabbing as “suspicious but isolated,” reassuring residents there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Officials said everyone believed to have been involved has been identified and interviewed.
Because a juvenile is connected to the case, Alabama law restricts what details can be made public, including potential charges or the juvenile’s identity. Detectives continue to gather evidence and speak with witnesses as they work to piece together the circumstances surrounding Colquitt’s death.
