Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa community is mourning the loss of Kristi Blok, a beloved teacher, mentor, and community leader whose life and work left an enduring impact on all who knew her. Kristi passed away on September 18, 2025, following a courageous battle with mucosal melanoma. She was surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

For more than 25 years, Kristi devoted herself to education and community service, earning the admiration of colleagues, students, and neighbors alike. Her dedication went beyond teaching — she was a mentor who encouraged creativity, resilience, and a belief in one’s own potential. Friends and former students say Kristi had an extraordinary gift for bringing people together, fostering a sense of belonging, and inspiring others to be their best.
Outside of her professional accomplishments, Kristi’s greatest joy was her family. As a proud mother of four, she poured her heart into raising her children with love, strength, and compassion, instilling in them the same values of generosity and perseverance that guided her own life.
Those closest to her remember Kristi for her warm smile, boundless kindness, and unwavering support, even while she faced her own health challenges. Her courage and grace throughout her illness were a testament to her strength of character and deep love for those around her.
