Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Central West End Identified as Joseph Mahoney
ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was fatally struck in the Central West End last week as 36-year-old Joseph Mahoney, a construction worker from the area.

The incident occurred on October 13, 2025, shortly after 6:15 a.m., on the 100 block of N. Kingshighway. Police and Accident Reconstruction investigators reported that Mahoney was struck by a Chevrolet Malibu while in the middle lane, attempting to move construction equipment from an off-roadway construction site.

Investigators noted that no active roadway work was taking place at the time, and no barricades or warning devices were present to alert motorists. Mahoney was wearing construction gear when the crash occurred.

He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but sadly passed away on October 16.

The driver of the Malibu remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine contributing factors.
