The Phillipsburg Police Department is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Detective Sergeant Brett Marino (#321), a dedicated officer whose courage, humor, and unwavering commitment left an indelible mark on colleagues, friends, and the community he served.

A proud 13-year veteran, Det. Sgt. Marino quickly distinguished himself through his talent and dedication, earning a role in the department’s Special Operations Division, where he investigated narcotics and street crime-related offenses. Throughout his career, Brett’s commitment to justice and the safety of the community never wavered.

To those who knew him personally, Brett was far more than a law enforcement officer. He was a trusted friend, a voice of reason, and a source of laughter and light in every room he entered. His resilience and determination were evident in his nearly two-year battle with illness, during which he defied medical expectations and fought with unshakable courage.

Det. Sgt. Marino is survived by his loving wife, four children, three brothers, one sister, and many close relatives, as well as an extended “family in blue” who will continue to honor his memory.
