Plain Township, Ohio — A woman in her 30s was shot multiple times at an apartment on the 4100 block of Orchard Dale Drive NW on Wednesday afternoon, shortly before 4:30 p.m., in an incident that ended with the suspected shooter taking his own life, according to Stark County Sheriff Eric Weisburn.
The victim reportedly fled the apartment building to a nearby complex across the street, seeking help. Video footage captured by a resident shows a man using his belt as a makeshift tourniquet to help control her severe bleeding while she took cover behind a parked car.

A girl, believed to be under 10 years old, was also in the apartment at the time and escaped to a neighbor’s unit on the lower floor unharmed.
The woman, who sustained gunshot wounds to her abdomen, arm, and face near the eye, was quickly transported to Aultman Hospital by a Stark County sheriff’s deputy. Her condition remained unknown as of early evening.
Law enforcement officers, including deputies and Jackson Township police, responded to the scene with tactical gear and long guns, securing the area without firing any shots. A drone was deployed to assess the situation from above, and residents in the surrounding apartment complexes were temporarily evacuated.
Investigators were permitted to enter the apartment with tenant consent to search for bullets and shell casings. Residents waited outside in the cold until authorities cleared the scene.
The incident occurred in the same apartment building where a previous high-profile crime took place: in June 2024, Sean Goe beat his girlfriend Raychel Sheridan to death. Goe was convicted of murder in November 2024 and is serving a 29-years-to-life sentence.
The Stark County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities are urging anyone with information or video footage of the incident to contact the department.
