Plainfield, IL — The Plainfield community is grappling with the heartbreaking loss of Jennifer Heit, 40, who was tragically killed in her home on Burshire Court on the morning of September 29, 2025.

Police reports indicate that Jennifer was fatally shot in the garage during a domestic incident. Her husband, Ryan Heit, was later found deceased outside the home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Miraculously, the couple’s four children, ranging from ages 3 to 16, were unharmed and are now in the care of relatives.
Jennifer is remembered as a devoted mother whose life revolved around her children. Her family, friends, and neighbors recall her as a warm, gentle, and compassionate person whose presence brought light to every room she entered.
“This is an unimaginable loss,” a family friend said. “Jennifer’s love and dedication to her children and everyone around her were evident in everything she did.”
