Cifuentes sustained critical injuries in the collision and was transported by Plano Fire-Rescue to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police reported that, based on preliminary findings, neither speed nor alcohol appear to have played a role in the crash. The case remains under active investigation by the department’s Traffic Unit.

Officials noted that the tragedy underscores the risks pedestrians face on busy roads, even when impairment or recklessness is not suspected. They urged drivers and walkers alike to remain vigilant, particularly at night or in high-traffic areas.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to contact the Plano Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
